Aston Metals Limited is a base metals explorer that, over the last four years, has acquired majority rights to base metal interests in Mount Isa, one of the world’s most significant base metal provinces.
It has been fully owned by the Tinkler Group since April 2011.
Aston Metals’ tenement package totals approximately 4,700Km2 including a contiguous land holding of approximately 350 kilometres along the Mount Isa Fault north and south of the Xstrata Isa mine lease.
It has five key projects including the advanced Walford Creek and numerous drill ready targets on other project areas – Constance Range, Isa North, Isa West and Isa South.
Walford Creek
- 350 kilometres north, north-west of Mount Isa in North-West Queensland, close to the Northern Territory border
- Comprises three tenements which covers approximately 40 kilometres of the faulted northern margin of the Mount Isa Inlier including approximately 25 kilometres of strike of the Fish River Fault
Constance Range Project
- Tenements are adjacent to the Termite Range Fault, which is coeval with the Mount Isa Fault and lies between 150 kilometres and 300 kilometres north of Mount Isa
- Exploration is at an early stage, but the tenements have potential for both copper and zinc-lead-silver mineralisation potential
Isa North Project
- Prospects located on several fault splays off the Mount Isa Fault zone north of Mount Isa
Isa West Project
- Located along and adjacent to the May Downs Fault Corridor west of Mount Isa
- Drilling has encountered silica dolomite alteration with encouraging copper mineralisation analogous to the Isa Cooper System
Isa South Project
- Main targets are copper and cooper gold around Mount Annable and Blue Hills which may be a Mount Isa copper style occurrence or a variant of the Hero copper mineralisation.
